It’s very common & new moms worry a lot seeing that redness around anal region. Nappy rashes are very common happens in majority of babies till 2 years.
Causes of Diaper rash:- Main cause is long exposure to wetness wither poop or pee filled diapers or not proper cleaning hygiene routine for infants. Other cause are- use of plastic pants, sensitive skin or skin condition like eczema or allergy to soap, detergent or bubble bath, alcohol based baby wipes, diarrhoea or other anal diseases. You will see red eruptions or red patches around anal area or may be covering whole bum. There can be burning, soreness & pain on touching that area. Sometimes blisters or alcers also formed. Babies usually cry & gets irritated due to this.
Do’s & Don’ts to prevent diaper rash:- Change pooped or pee nappy as soon as possible. If baby is awake, change immediately & if sleeping change every 2 hourly. Initial 3-4 months infants wet diapers frequently & it takes lots of hard work to maintain proper cleaning routine after bum every time you change nappy.
Cleaning Routine:- Never ever use baby wipes as most of them are alcohol based and it initiates baby’s skin. Use cotton balls or plain soft cotton cloth for cleaning. Wet cotton balls with plain water. I always keep spray bottle filled with pure water for this. Clean area wiping off from front to back.
Now comes very important step. Let that area dry properly- Use dry cloth to tap it dry & then keep it open for few minutes to air dry in fresh air. Don’t use plastic pants. Daily give your baby some nappy free time while he plays lay your baby on a clean towel or cloth sheet & give him nappy free time that helps prevent diaper rash too. If in case you are using disposable diapers, always apply coconut oil or petroleum jelly or zinc oxide based nappy cream on bums to prevent rashes.
Homeopathy medicine help your baby in healing diaper rashes. They are natural and safe for babies & easy to administer even in infants.
Thrush Infection:- We are surrounded by so many bacteria & viruses & fungus. Many are helpful to us. One of the common yeast fungus develop rapidly when favourable environment is available. Oral thrush, vaginal thrush & nipple thrush are common site for its development. In infants, oropharyngeal thrush is common.
